It’s Time to Start…
My puppy Daisy waiting for Spring.
For the last few months, I have been thinking more and more about this decision. I have read all sorts of websites that outline all the steps I would have to take and have reviewed all sort of information on the state of politics today. Was this even possible? Is this something I even wanted to try?
The answer kept coming back to YES.
So, I have gotten all the accounts setup, filed with the IRS to setup my organization, and took the first scary step of putting it out in the world and starting this website.
I am not a career politician. I am just someone who feels we have stopped listening to one another. Everything is setup to divide us today, and we need to listen and work on the real problems that are facing us. We need to stop the name calling and see what matters to those around us and see how we can help.
In my life I have voted Democrat, and I have voted Republican, but neither party 100% represents my ideals and beliefs. I believe in personal freedoms, and everyone’s rights as Americans. I know I am going to say this an awful lot over the next one and a half years, but I truly believe you need to treat other as you would want to be treated: the good ole golden rule. You should be free to be you, however you define that. It is not my place to tell someone who they are, I can just say who I am.
As I start this journey, I have a few things I know I want to do. I want to get out and listen to my neighbors in the 6th district, maybe attend a few farmers markets through the area and just listen to what is on your mind. I do not know everything, I have only lived my life and have had my experiences, but I want to hear yours. You can send me an email at just@justmrmartin.com and ask me anything you like. If you have suggestions on where I should go or what I should do let me know.
I know what it is like to be laid off after 17 years with an employer, and what it means to live paycheck to paycheck. I know the struggle of having to make Top Ramen your meal of choice for a week. I am not starting this journey with a massive war chest, I am starting it with just the willingness to listen and do something different.
Before I can officially declare my candidacy, I need to raise $5000 in donations. To get on the ballot in Wisconsin I need 2000 signatures from those in the 6th District who are willing to put their names down to give me a chance.
If you see me out and about, say hi, let me know how you’re doing.
Here we go….
